I'm surprised that Catholics like bonfire night, celebrating their defeat as it were! My sister is a Catholic (they converted) and they enjoy it. I'm glad my children are grown up and I don't have to stand outside in the dark and cold/wet pretending to enjoy it anymore! My neighbour up the road (a farmer) didn't enjoy bonfire night she had a noisy display next door to her and it was driving her sheepdogs mad and spooking the cows. It went on for one and a half hours.
