Gibbiceps and Goldfish.

I would also agree with a Wheather Loach/Dojo Loach, they are a great fish that dosen't grow to large and dosen't demand to much. Be sure to get at least three as they need the company of their own kind.

Good Luck

Here is a previous post of mine concerning Dojo Loaches-

Most common are the Common, Misgurnus anguillicaudatus (Cantor) and Spotted, Cobitis taenia (Linnaeus) Dojos or Weatherfishes. They are often called "living barometers" of their increased activity at the approach of changing weather. These fishes are pressure-sensitive, swimming about more if it?s about to rain for instance.

The Common Dojo/Weatherfish is drab to light brown naturally, though there are "Golden" Dojos (xanthistic varieties, not albinos) that are human-produced. This species attains a maximum length of about twelve inches. The Spotted Dojo or Weatherfish only reaches a natural length of six inches. Both are excellent scavengers. They should be kept with their own species.

Hope this helps

Unfourtunatly Golden Dojos can be quite hard to find, I have been searching for some for a while now with no luck so I hope you can find some.

I have kept one for a year and a half and he seems ok.

Thing is, mutation seemed to want a plec...

Hi

I've got a 4" Gibbiceps. A very good looking fish, but a right psyco! He will attack my other pleco, my pictus and even my malawi! And this guy is out to hurt the other fish!

I'd hate to see what an 8"er would do to a goldfish who doesnt fight back!!

Hi ryan :)

Mutation didn't say he wouldn't consider any other possibilities, and since it doesn't sound like a Gibbiceps would be a good choice for his tank, I don't think there is any harm in suggesting other fish that would be more suitable for his tank.

But I never heard that weather loaches needed to be kept in groups of three. I know that you need more than one kuhli loach but did not think it was the same for the weatherfish. I have two full grown ones and although one of them grew up deformed, they get along quite well. I'm quite fond of them actually.

Here's a link to another thread where we discussed them:

H Inchworm,

I have always heard and thourght it best to keep Wheather Loaches in a group, however, saying that my current Wheather Loach is on his own and quite happy. It was good of you to make that suggestion Inchworm and I sure it is greatly apprecaited I was just adding some info if thats ok, I will check out the thread.

Thanks :)
