i've seen them nearby at one petstore near me. they're really huge for corys and are being sold for 10 dollars each. they look absolutely identical to an emerald green cory, only theyre about 5 or 6 inches long, 3-4 inches wide and 3-4 inches tall. took me by surprise when i saw them, are they common at all?

I have never heard of one, would love a picture! haha, anyway to convince you to sneak back over and take a quick picture?

these would probably look FAB in a long and short tank with sand substrate, don't you think? (drooling just imagining!)

lol yeah, i'll try to take a picture on my phone next time im over there..... i'll make sure another fish is in the shot for a comparison. its ***** strange seeing them that huge, i bet they'd school with clown loaches pretty well.

Are they like these? http://aquavisie.retry.org/Database/Aquariumfish/Corydoras_barbatus.html

similar, but not exactly. they look more like this , only much larger http://aquaworld.netfirms.com/Siluroidei/Corydoras/Corydoras_aeneus0.jpg

If they are big and resemble the fish sold as emerald green corys, chances are they are one of the Brochis species. The emerald green fish are B. splendens. These are another species, B. multiradiatus:

oh yesh, that looks like em a lot

i had recently took a trip to my local petco, and in their "adoption first" tank there was a HUGE albino one kind of that saize but bigger.... it made me do a double take haha.

Brochis Britski is the largest of the Brichis species general available. I have certainly seen them at 4-4.5 " in a shop. 5-6" really does seem enormous though.
