Betta dont really need heaters
I beg to differ. Betta's live alot better in warmer waters and are alot more active. A 1 Gal bowl does seem very small though and if the water temp is at about 24 degrees your Betta should be OK. i would not advice putting a heater in such a small tank although I do have a 25W in a 4 gal!

i highly dissagree with you...

bettas are tropical fish! just coz they can live in such small tank, dont mean they dont need a heater!!!!

the betta will be fine in the onr callon, but put a plant or something for him to rest on, loads of people have kept bettas successfully

1 gal, that must be tiny, just put it next to radiator.

i dont think anything can live in a one gallon bowl
sorrry, but i dissagree with this too

ghost shrimp,
bettas
snails
fry (some types)

all these fish can live in a 1 gallon, but not many fish will be happy there, these are ok though,
imo
see yah

If you add the convict or the african toyour gouramis will be riped to pieces. Its that simple. So dont do it. And to be honest it sounds like your convict is on borrowed time as well, sooner or later the african is going to kill or injure it badly.

I suggest getting another tank for it or getting rid of it..LFS, someone equiped for cichlids, ect.. just my opinion

Nawwwwwwww The goldfish is 9 inches long the catfish are 8 inches long but they got small mouths my thumb fits inthere

OC,
I went to liveaquaria.com and aquadex.info/fish/Ictalurus_punctatus.cfm and looked at the fish you already have in the tank and here is the results I got.

2 Blue Gourami Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 6"
1 Gold Gourami Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 6"
1 Blue Paradise Gourami Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 4"
2 Channel Cats Size 48''
2 Common Plecos Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 18''
1 Pictus Cat Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 10"
1 Clown Loach Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 12''

All this added up is 176 inches of fish. Even if you pull out the two channel cats that is STILL 80 inches. I am not trying to be rude or make you mad but this is way to much for the tank. It will only get worse if you add more. I know you came here asking questions so I have provided both links where I got my information so you can look for yourself. The general rule of thumb is one inch of fish per one gallon. I am not saying you should NOT do this but I don't think you will find anyone who is experienced in keep aquariums that will not tell you this is asking for trouble. Again I want to stress I am not trying to make you or anyone else mad here but just trying to give you hard facts that that tank is not a healthy set up. I wish you the best of luck though. The liveaquaria.com site also gives the minimum sized tank that these should be in. When I came here everyone said that an Oscar should not be kept in a tank smaller then a 75.....liveaquaria.com said the minimum was 70 so they both seem to agree. I know it is YOUR tank and you will do whatever you so good luck and I wish you the best.
Signed,
Sondan

i know yur not trying to be rude and i know that rule but i am not worried about max size yet because i am definatly getting a 90 gallon tank which the 2 cahnnel cats and the pictus cat are going along with my 2 cichlids. the pictus cat and the clown loach are both small under 6 inches so there will be no problems. Thanks though for trying to help...
