Getting Back Into It With A 35L! Stocking And Filter?

I'd either find 2 dg females or just do 2 fm honeys and one male honey.

(The dg fms will go with the male dg)

I think it would work but I don't think the dg would love the honeys.

Ihme porukkaa täällä. o_O

Would you like to share what you think is wrong with us all, or tai jatkaa Suomi-?

Jeez.

OP - I would either go with what you had before (but appreciate you might want a change!) so how about something out of the ordinary shrimp wise, and some male endlers? The planted section has some awesome nano planted setups using a black sand substrate and bright greens. Although they're the most common, Cherry Shrimp look amazing against greens and a dark substrate. They colour up better on a dark substrate also.

I feel your pain on the external front. I've been wanting to set up a high tech nano with Co2, but most externals are too flow heavy for a small tank, HOB filters i often find a bit unsightly , and a U1 even though small, is still taking space the water coloumn could be using.

Hope this helps!

I really think 35 litre is way to small for a dwarf gourami, they need at least 10 gallons, 35 litres doesn't provide that.
Maybe some sparkling gourami's instead?

35 liters basically is 10 gallons. 37-38 liters=10 gallons he's 2-3 liters off.

You are off to a good start with the Betta, is a small tank so how about a biowheel filter, A 100 Gallon per hour would be ideal.

100 gallons per hour?? Are you sure about that? That would be the entire volume of the tank being filtered 10 times every hour, seems a bit like overkill to me? Plus these penguin biowheels.. are they available in the uk?
I just found the eheim aquacompact range, would they not be more suitable?

I'm not quite sure you read the question either.. the betta is what I previously had in the tank, but am now on a new adventure from a clean slate, starting all over again. The only thing the same, is the tank itself! sorry for any confusion..

I also recommend the Marineland Penguin 100 bio wheel filter. I have that exact model on my 10 gallon with a Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami, 4 Guppies, 5 Glowlight Tetras & 20 Molly fry in a net. Yes, I'm looking to upsize the Dwarf's tank really soon.

I think 2 Dwarf Gouramis would be cramped in a 35 liter tank, that's only 9.2 US gallons. One Dwarf would be fine though, or maybe you should consider Honey Gouramis instead? You could probably fit a single male & 2 females................the rest of your stock sounds good. :good:

If your GF likes color maybe you should get a small school of Neon Tetras? 6 or 8 neons with 3 or 4 male Guppies and a single Dwarf Gourami male? My wife didn't like the Albino Corries that much but she thinks the Pandas are cute

Mowbz - good reply, I wonder what you use for a filter in a similarly small tank what with the space sacrifice of space to a small filter?

And the tank dimensions are 400 x 330 x 300mm (arcadia arc tank 35L).

I think the most likely outcome from this will be to get a single dwarf gourami, and then to find tankmates which the OH is a bit more flexible on thankfully.

Okay 7 gallons, you could do as already said a dwarf gourami (although they will appreciate more space) and a school of rasboras or a school of neons and a couple male guppies.

OK. SO for the benefit of my girlfriend (who just wants pretty fish) and to also make sure there's no cruelty or possible fighting. What do people think of either of these 2 combinations:

1: 1 Dwarf Gourami + 2 Honey Gouramis

2: 1 Dwarf Gourami + 2 Guppies

Would either of those be acceptable? Men from all over the world will know women can be stubborn (especially when they don't know what they're talking about)(no offence to other women on here), and she insists on a Dwarf Gourami!

My Dwarf is my second favorite fish I ever had. They're awesome, she has good taste!

Thankyou all for the advice. I know the tank is small, but I'm trying to work with what I've got without being unrealistic. SO, one dwarf gourami and maybe 3 guppies will be where I'll start from. I will investigate getting a bigger tank, unfortunately I am very restricted by space unless it's vertical. Unfortunately, last time I checked vertical tanks weren't very well looked upon because of the small surface area and also, fish probably wouldn't appreciate going up and down constantly.

That size should be fine with a single male Dwarf and 3 Guppies. I'd add 6 Otos or 4 Corries to that mix & be done with it.

I use a U2 and a small 280 lph power head in the 80. Brilliant little filter, has a problem turning on sometimes (Common fault with U series filters. Sometimes when you turn them off, they wont start. Givem them 10 mins and plug back in, and they randomly come to life!)

The powerhead just pushes the water around a little better. I could go for a U3 which would do both, but would take up more room :(
