for the past 4 months my sis has had a 5 gal tank but she hasnt done crap to make her fish happy and to clean the tank. Me and my dad have to but her betta in a cup and then we had to clean it head to toe. In result to this her betta died. My parents airnt gonna let here get anything else and they gave it to me.

I dont want to put any fish in it since there isnt a big selection and I want to try something new.

What can a 5 gal hold as far as amphebians and reptiles go? If you could just list some species that I can house in it then I would appreceate it. :)

It's a small tank they only thing I'd say was suitable would be a couple of African dwarf frogs.

What about a single fire bellied newt? (given of course, if the tank is not a hex). Can't find the minimum tank size requirement for them. Just wondering if it's possible...?

Personally i think it's too small for a f b newt, they need some land area. With f b newts you're better off getting more than one and getting a bigger tank (at least 20 gallons)

... personally, I think if she can't keep a Betta alive, I'd examine her pet keeping habits and really consider if she's able to keep different creatures in there. Most other creatures are far *less* hardy than bettas are, given that tank size....

she isn't getting an amphibian - tbagger is thinking about it - it was the sister that killed the betta that is why tbagger's have been given the tank.

I think I know what Im gonna put in there. In my park theres an abandoned well and there are tons of cryfish inside so Ill probably go in there and fish one out.

Its not one of those wells that are 100 ft deep its fake its only about 5 ft deep. I dont know how they got in there but me and my friend were just looking around and we found it. I think there all albino thou.

When i fish one out im thinking about layering the bottom and mid areas with gravel and then putting soil on top so he can burrow. Ill find a couple of rocks and plants he can hid in.

What kind a things do I need to consider when caring for a crayfish?

Idk lol its been 3 yrs since Ive seen that well so I dont know wether or not they were albino or not but I do know that they were clearish. Ill post pics as soon as I get hold of one. If they airnt there then Ill go down to our neighborhood creek at night and try to scoop one up. Theres tons of holes where they are diggin.

Don't you think it's a little mean to take a crayfish that's used to living in a habitat and then shoving it in a tiny 5 gallon tank? Go for something that's bred to be in captivity, as they're used to it. I would recommend African Dwarf Frogs, they're fun little creatures and you can probably fit a couple in a 5 gallon tank.

The well thier in bascially is a 5 gal tank just a lot taller. Idk ill either put a crayfish in it, ADFs, or mabye 1 or 2 puffers.

Well, thats how many of your tropical fish are caught. Cardinal tetras are usually taken from the wild.

So dont you think thats "mean"?

Go for it. I hope theyre crayfish and not scorpions though! lol
