Thanks i can start to tell what sex thay are also, some have developed the pink belly's :) females and a few are not pink so males.

they look so cool!!

this is what my aim is,shame the parents keep turning on the eggs :-(

i now have a 62L tank,to see if they will do better on there own

out of all the eggs/wrigglers etc etc,how many fry usualy make it to bigger stage?

Thanks for the comments everyone :D, they are my favorite fish.

Mark in 2 batches i have grown i have had about 15 per batch to survive. Food is really important. Smaller food the better and Live food is a huge importance also. Learned from experience on that.

what is a small live food then?

its baby brine shrimp i believe =] or what a fellow member on here recommended interpet freeze dried brine shrimp

Baby brine shrimp can only be eaten by about 40% of the newly hatched fry. probably less. I hear Liquifry(food name) and Microworms are the best food for fry for the first 3 days after free swimming. But i cannot find that stuff anywhere around were i live. so i only use BBS and get a low fry count because of it.

I normally have about 80 fry hatch and about 30 make it then some disappear out of nowhere lol then i only have about 15-20.

yeah thats what i figured since i had a low survival rate and from watching them eat only a few had the orange belly's and the others were not able to get there mouths around the bbs.

thats quite sad :(

dont they peck of the ground? so you could drop a tablet/pellet in?

tried that but they ignored it. they only seem to eat live until they are like a month old then they started eating something else.
