Livestock: Geophagus Altifrons Variant
Quantity: One approx 6"
Reason for sale: Different to my other geophagus species
Pick up only, WV5 West Midlands
Price: £8

Ive had this chap along with my other 3 geo's for approx 6-8 months, the larger they have grown, its become obvious this one is not the same species as the others, which are to my knowledge Abalios, he/she has become more aggressive towards the group and has now been removed and is in need of a new home with a group he can get along with. I dont know his/hers particular species as (edit) but altifrons species is the best I can get to an id.

I would be interested in taking this chappy - I have 6 Geophagus altifrons (much the same as surinamensis but grow slightly bigger I think) - but would not be able to take this fella for another few weeks.

I realise you can't hold him for me - but if he's still available then, could you keep me in mind?

My family live in the Midlands (Walsall) so I often travel up there.

Sure, if nobody else comes along 1st, then of course you can have him, but I do need him to go sooner rather than later because obviously alone he isnt particularly happy. So let me know when your up next and if he's still here, your more than welcome to buy him. :)

Hmmmm it does look like G. altifrons doesn't it? but there are differences...

its not G. sp. areoes

But I think, its G. tapajos

Or a cross that involves it.

 Shes already said it's a Surinamensis..........................and it looks nothing like a tapajo or altifrons

I disagree, morpholgically its similar to both.

All I know its a surinamensis species, not specifically surinamensis, I know for sure its not the same as my Abalios, hence the aggression towards them. Actually thats the wrong pic, will try to get another of the actual fish. I has small spots all over its tail, not the long dashes. Either way, Im not looking for an ID, just a buyer to give it a good home.

New pic of actual fish.

Im open to offers :)

Hey hun, how aggressive are these?, would they bother the likes of say severums and ebjd'S?

Also would i need to get more of the same species to keep it happy or would he be happy on his own?.

Not aggressive to other species, never bothered anyone else but the other geophagus species I have, which he isnt the same as (only found this out as he's grown), they do like to be in groups, however you would need to find the same species, not similar as I have because of aggression. They can be kept singularly but they do prefer to be in groups of 4 or more.

Suspected they really would be happier in group's, oh well worth a try. I'm not to clever with cichlids so me trying to find more to match is gonna be a to much like hard work lol so i don't think for me it's logical to have.

Thanks for the reply though hun :)

Best Id I can get on this guy is Geophagus Altifrons (unsure of which varient). Any offers?

If there's any way he could be gotten down here to North London, I will happily take him - he looks a lot like my altifrons so I think I would be safe adding him to my tank, if not, I could sort something out for him - I'm sure wildwoods could ID him (my local LFS) and I could go from there on finding him some suitable friends.
