So sorry to hear your betta died. If he died that quickly, was kind of floating, covered in stuff that looked like a mix between fuzz and slime, and the fish slowly sink to the bottom near the end, unable to come up for air, it was almost 100% columnaris. Disinfect everything associated with him before you re use his home.

I am sorry to hear he passed. I agree with Orky. Disinfect everything. Columnaris is a mean and fast acting disease. Often it is too late and they pass away. You did your best.

What is in the tank? Is it glass or plastic or acrylic? You can use a strong salt solution, vinegar or boiling and or baking. Don't use soap, it is harmful to fish, even traces of it can kill future fish. I am not sure about alcohol, you can use bleach too. Make sure you rinse with dechlorinated water, add extra dechlor as bleach is made of chlorine. Rinse, rinse, rinse. and if you think you might have missed a trace of what ever you used, rinse again. Letting the tank sit dry for a while might work. Especially if you let it sit in the sun.

it is a glass tank it has marbles in it, a ceramic cave, and a plastic tree i am soaking everything in alcohol right now
