Fun Facts We Didn't Need To Know

I just discovered that R.J. Lechmere Guppy was not a clergyman, as the usual stories about the naming of guppies say. I've known enough church guys who acted like guppies that I always thought it made sense. But no, he was an aristocratic British naturalist who lived in Trinidad and died in the USA.

If I ever have a son, Lechmere could be a good name for him.

I find this interesting but some of the comments even more so.
What the aunt did was wrong but probably some of it MAY have been out of ignorance but still wrong. However, what he did is beyond being unforgivable and no different than if the aunt's grandfather had been cremated and he flushed the ashes down the toilet.

They both need some serious help but by the actions described we may see him on the news as the next school shooter. :(

This is an article for Jaylach and other avian enthusiasts.
When I lived in Florida I bred and sold zebra finches. Trust me in that the females are just as vocal as the males. ;)

Thanks for the article. :)

I had some rescue zebra finches ("They're old and will only live 6 months or less" the shelter volunteer said). In the years I had them, I realized they and crows are the only birds even I can outsing. Their Mommas must have been sitting in jails across the road from their Dads' cells if singing is taught in their families.
