Fuel In The Uk

There's an American page I follow on Facebook. They're encouraging their users to not buy fuel on the 15th of April in protest of the rising cost. Get a load of this - they're protesting because it's gone up to an average of $1.20 (75p) a litre. It was hilarious! If a garage started selling petrol at that price people would queue for hours!

Own up who's filled up and at what price

$4.43/gallon, $50 worth this morning. My truck gets 8, maybe 10mpg, less if I load her up. It's the weekend, I'm not in the mood for math, but I'm guessing UK prices have to be upward of $6/gallon.

I filled up on Monday, but only because I had to.
Was at normal price, haven't seen any queuing here or stations closed

£45,000 a year? LOL!.

But... What is wrong with wanting more money for the job you do? If footballers can demand more money then why not 'ordinary people'?

The most i have seen it as around me is 146.9 per litre. Quite funny really as before all the queing and cashing in on it it as 139.9 per litre. LOL, quite a nice increase when there are 50 cars sat outside waiting for fuel ALL DAY!

Probably just a conspiracy theory... but would the 172% increase in unleaded fuel sales (or what ever percentage it was) make the books look better at the end of the year for the government? Scare mongering etc? :look:

footballers dont mess up everybody elses plans when they ask for more money. and they dont refuse to 'work' if they're still under a contract.

its the same as the people who wanted to strike while the Olympics was in full swing (think it was tube drivers, not sure). these people seem to think they've got every right, while in fact to the public it just makes them all look like greedy, selfish arseholes that dont appreciate how good they've got it while most of the country worry about how they're going to afford to live.

Cough Cough Carlos Tevez!!

I have given up worrying about fuel prices, not much I can do about it. I couldnt help myself yesterday when I drove past a local fuel station full of people panick buying, I wound my window down and let out a nice loud "BAAAAAAAA" to say hello to all the sheep.

more like $11 per gallon

Where I am prices just went to about $4/gallon a fill up on my dads truck yesterday was $80.43 :shout:

And they dont refuse to 'work' if they're still under a contract.
In the us we had the "NBA lockout" for the first few weeks of the NBA season because players wanted higher pay or they wouldn't play, then I'm pretty sure the same happened with the NFL a few years ago.

I filled on wednesday, did not 'fill it up' as I cant bloody afford to anyway,

What long term things could be implemented to help us? Or is everyone going to be walking everywhere and driving be left to the rich?

With Tax, MOT, Insurance, Permits, Repairs, Fines and Petrol havin a car is getting such a nuisance... Im 22 but without help getting my first car and insurance back when I was 17 there would be no way anyone could afford it until in a good salary full time job, especially in London

I filled up before all the nonsense about the possible strike, only because I had ton
I don't see why we should have to pay such high prices for fuel, just another way for the government to screw us.
Will make their books look good with the increase in taxes they've gained over this farce

You live in a world where footballers are god obviously... They kick a football around and get £100,000+ a WEEK. Then you say that £20,000 a YEAR would be ample for anyone to live on... The payrise probably wouldn't compensate for the amount that everything is going up. Food, Fuel, Tax etc etc etc.

Maybe if football players weren't paid such ridiculous amounts then 'ordinary people' wouldn't feel the need to ask for a payrise. ATM they have a great case for a payrise and have one of the best bargaining tools for it too... You seem to forget that it is the government that has caused all this panic buying at the pumps. The tanker drivers (unions) could have sat down and discussed it behind the scenes, but the idiot tories decided to announce it to the whole country and told them to start storing it at home (derrrrrr...!!!) which just added to the panic as people were seen filling up all sorts of containers. Not really the best way to go about it.

no, i was simply stating that when footballers negotiate their pay rises, it has no direct efect on the public. whereas workers striking, be it tanker drivers, airline workers, tube drivers, teachers, they all have a very direct affect on the public. which is what i dont like. i agree footballers earn too much, but, like petrol prices, theres nothing we can do about it, so deal with it. i was just making the distinction that the way they go about earning more money doesnt impact OUR everyday lives. and as you seemed to be comparing them to the drivers, i was just making this point.
