what are the best things to put in a fry tank and what is the best subtrate and are rock a good idea or a bad idea
also is it a good idea to have a ugf
also is it a good idea to have a ugf
i have a sponge filter aswell i have quite big gravel so might take it out then i will have to take theugf out anyway i dont no what rocks yet could you sugest any?Plants, caves, ornaments, anything that gives them hiding places is good.
Barebottom seems to be the prefered one, because of the ease of cleaning. Sand is also fine, as is some small gravel...just be careful with gravel, because I've heard and witnessed fry getting caught and being crushed.
What kind of rocks?
UGFs generally aren't that good at filtering. I'd suggest a sponge filter for a fry tank.

yeh i was going to do that or clean my other filter and then squeeze it into the other filter would this work as good?Any rocks that are aquarium safe will be fine. If you want to use the sponge filter, run it in another tank so it can pick up some bacteria first.
