just thought id give a quick update on the fry. there are five in total. after alot of patient waiting with net in hand i managed to get the rest and have housed them with the other two in my shrimp tank. they range in size but all seem to be doing great. im feeding powdered flake by tetramin. the shrimp love cleaning up the left overs. ive still no idea what they are. they are pretty bland looking at the moment. id love them to be silver tips. which are spawning every two two weeks or so. watched them the other night spraying eggs everywhere. havent had any more fry though. the other fish do take a heavy toll on the eggs as they spawn to be honest which makes me wonder, are they endlers. i have a pair of hi red endlers. they went in my tank just before i noticed the fry. the female was very small and i dident thnk she was old enough to breed let alone be pregnant. i just wonder if she was and dropped a small load of fry. ill try and post a pic soon.

Since my peacock gudgeon lays eggs in a particular cave, a day or two before I know they'll hatch I'll transfer the cave into my fry tank in a little fry net with moss and more moss and filter media (it seriously has saved their little behinds from NH3 spikes, plus theres a ton of current in the fry net). You could try keeping her a day or so in the net before she drops fry, usually theres some tell tale signs a few days before.

Sorry this doesn't help after they hatch, but after a few days they get big enough not to slip through my net. If they get eaten, there'll probably be a next time to plan for.

ok folks to confirm i am the proud owner of 5 baby endlers. the traits are begining to show now. not sure if im gutted or not. endlers are lovley little fish. but tera's would have been really cool. ive managed to rear them in my shrimp tank and theyve really come on a lot. in fact they will be back in my community tank within the week cos the first of my female rcs are berried and im not having the greedy little beggers eating my shrimplets.
