Hi,

How old would you say this fry is ?

Around 2 months old, not sure about scale...
What is it? A molly fry or swordtail/platy?

Maybe 4-6 weeks, if that. I'm no expert mind you, I bet someone here could identify that for you more accurately. :good:

Really? I thought it was only a few days old lol.

They hide well then, first time seeing it today :)

It's a Platy.

Here's the full pic, just incase its easier to age (the gravel is about 5mm).

If gravel is 5 mm, and platy is around 1.5 or 1 cm, should be around 2 months (give or take 1 week).
My swordtails are now almost 2 cm long at the age of 2 months.

They grow really fast when young, it's pretty difficult to determine an exact age :p

Tell me about it, my last fry is already trying to be the boss of the tank :D

It's lucky that my LFS has said they will take fry off my hands if I get to many :)

Thanks FishBlast.

At what age do you re home fry (if you do) ?

I've never had to re-home my fry and so far I have plenty of space for the few fry I've saved. (only 3, didn't want to overcrowd).
But I've heard that it's not about age but size. A 3 cm long fry is good for re-homing or giving to LFS or selling. They show their color around that mark too.
