My molly and guppy babies have been growing excruciatingly slow on powdered flake food. Just wondering baby brine shrimp or some other subsitute would speed up the process to a normal or acclerated rate.

Hi! What's their growth rate? I'm thinking of the same problem as u do. My swordtail frys r 2 months old but the biggest is still only 1.5cm. The 1 month old guppy frys r just around 1cm.

Usually I feed them powdered flake food, liquid fry food, n brine shrimps occasionally (once a week). I guess the growth rate depends on the protein they r taking?

What I find the best fry food is...(I've written this out like a hundred times in the forum  ) boiled egg yolk. Now listen carefully...what I do is firstly boil an egg. Then slice it open and get about 1-1.5 grains of rice worth of egg yolk (YES THATS ALL) this is because its extremely high in protein. Now get a spoon put the boiled egg yolk on the spoon add a bit of water and mush it about then add to tank. Feed once a day. ;)

Thanks for the advice on the egg yolk kossy. Hopefully after doing this I will get me fry to actually grow faster.

Well it works for my bettas in fact im able to sell them at 3 months :D

Thats cool that you breed bettas kossy. I have heard that it is quite challenging and takes time and patience.

I fed my fry the eggyolk today, the way you told me. They went crazy for it! Way more enthusiastic then with the ground up flake food. Thanks again for the advice

Thanks for the info, Kossy :D

I'm impressed by how fast your bettas grow. My little gouramis seemed to take forever to get growing. I'm going to try it with some cory fry I have and with some more that are on the way (I hope). :)

Yeah great news to see your fish love it hopefully all of them will grow faster ;)

Raising the temperature is an interesting idea, guppymonkey. :)

I hadn't thought of that, but it does seem to make sense. I wonder how much is safe to raise it.

I just added the egg yolk to my baby cory's tank. I didn't mush it up, though, because I wanted to see if they would go to it. The little pieces I put in went right to the bottom and fry are now all over it. It reminds me of the big ones eating a spirulina disc.

I guess egg will be a big part of their diet from now on. :D
