Frogs

what water temp needs to be maintained to keep african clawed frogs or dwarf frogs?

I have 3 Acfs and I dont use a heater with them, the water is room temperature which is about 23 degree celcius, on a warm day it can be up to 25 degree celcius, mine dont seem to mind, Acfs are hardy little things. :grr:

thanks blondi. iv also noticed axolots ( axelote ) (axolotle) (axolote) you know what i mean, anyways i was wondering if, when breeding, do you need a pair or just put two in a tank and theyl just breed,??? also when googling iv seen many sites saying a 15 gallon, some a 20 and some a 30 so , what size tank for a pair? also how many african clawed frogs in a 20 gallon?

ADCF need a temperature between 18-25deg The bigger ACFs need a temperature of 25deg i keep and have bred both

Axolotls this is a great site and covers everything you need to know about them Here The only Problem i have with these is stopping them breeding .I guess i am going to have to split mine

nice site. do you think i can feed a axolotl triout pellets, (pellets to catch trout) i supose they smell really fishy so probably meaty. also what about cichlid pellets which contain a high shrimp and fish bases ingredients? is a 20 gallon stable for life? and they dont need filtration right...?
dany

I feed my adult axies on bloodworm, earth worms and i use aquatic amphibian pellets that mine love and so do my clawed frogs. Some people do use trout pellets but i heard they can cloud the water

they do???im sure it said on that site you gave to me that they dont...
ill go double check.
yep that what is says
Filtration is not essential for axolotls, providing your willing to change the water regularly.
this was taken from that site.

Yea if your going to change the water and that doesnt meen part waterchanges.

i read 25% water change halfway through the week and a 100% water change at the end of the week.
do the clawed frogs need filtration, i hear it causes damage.

I have used a filter for my DCFs and my ACFs for over 5 yrs and never had a problem

100% water change every week for axies isnt an easy option considering when they are adults they are in at least a 30" tank if you have 2 and the water has to stand for at least 24hrs

so you dont need filtration for the frogs...right.
i cant find anygood info on the web about adcf or acf. has anyone got any pics of the african dwarf clawed frogs as when trying to find pics on the web i only get them of the larger clawed frogs...

Pollywog look in the caresheets section and you will find all you need for both ACFs & ADCFs.They dont need care sheets but again you will have to do regular water changes I use filters for both species and have bred and reared both so i must be doing something right

"grahamsokel" (god you must hate me by now) ;) i cant seem to find anything for african dwarf clawed frogs. would a few dwarf clawed be able to be kept in an unairrated,un heated 20 gallon tank with a subrate of sand. the tank will have a 100% water change every week, using the water from my main tank. the temp in my house seems fine.
dany ;)
