Fraying Fins

Hi! Im new to this site. I own a betta. I have yet to change my bettas water. I have changed it once and have done 50/50 water changes. I know I need to change his water I am doing that today. I woke up this morning to find that my bettas bottom fins look frayed same with the side and top. He is not very active and his fins just kinda hang there. I am worried... probably more worried then I need to be. How do I fix this? medication? plzzz help!

So how long has he not had his water changed at all ?

It sounds like fin rot - which is generally a water quality issue.

Which country are you in ?

Perhaps one of the betta folks can help you with the best treatment medication - but in the mean time, this article might prove useful to you.

I only did a 100 cleaning one time. I have done 50/50 twice. I have only had him for about.. ehh a week and a half. I went to pets mart and bought some betta fix remedy and salt. I only have a 1 gal tank so im thinking I need to add 1/2 teaspoon of the remedy it says no to change the water.. but should I? I have not done a water change yet so should I and then addthis st uff?

Yes do a water change before you add the med, half a teaspoon of salt to the bowl, good luck.
