I'll be buying my first cories soon, and am wondering if it's normal for them to have slightly ragged dorsal fins. The majority of the ones that I see for sale do. How serious is this? I woudln't buy cories with damaged barbels.

No this is not normal. Sounds like these cories are not healthy, or something has been picking on them and damaged the dorsal fins. What kind of cories are you talking about?

If the dorsal fins are raggedy, there's a problem. However, I know my panda corys have raggedy-edged coloring on their dorsals. Just be sure it's the fin itself and not the color on them. It looks like you want albino corys judging by your sig and they don't have any coloring, so there's probably something wrong with them.
