in a word (or a face) :alien:

i've seen these fish years ago.....swimming in the local river near my house......i dont think it was natural tho....i think it might have had somethin to do with the waste thats pumped into the river from factory's down the road....hahahahahahahaha

just messin........i want some!!!!! (buys a ticket to Taipei)

Tek :fish:

saying that tho.....they're not natural.....but......at least they aren't painted....and by the sounds of things the fish havent gone thru any kind of pain to achieve the desired affect.

i think i could say that if they turned up at my lfs i'd purchase some...even tho they aren't natural....but they do look nice and no cruelty has been placed upon the fish

Tek :fish:

(watch this space......i think im gonna get a roasting very soon :p )

true, i would probably buy 3 clown loaches that a pop with that price. :grr:

very cool looking, but me thinks man is meddling where they shouldn't. I am waiting for us to engineer a dolphin that can live out of water with hands, then the human race will be in real trouble.

id buy them for 10 dollars a piece

but anymore and its not worth it.

They are wicked awesome though!!!!!!!!11 8)

GRRRRRR!!!! No i will bite my tongue, for now :ninja:

thease fish are genetically engeneered to glow in the dark. some people are using a seriouse science and makeing a joke out of it. genetic reserch was to find cures for diseases not for making glowing fish... this makes it allmost impossible to support genetic reserch and sets science back ten years there are also people making genetic mutants for art somewhere this also angers me. yea the fish might look cool and i know for a fact hundreds of people will go out and buy them but there was no need to go messing about with this genetic strain.. danios i think (i never liked that fish im not suirprised they picked it to mess about with). once they have made enough fish then people will be inbreeding them to save money and who knows what will happen to their fry. of course on the other side you could say the same thing about goldfish as they where man made but in a different way.

good point jammnong but may i remind you that it doesnt matter what fish species ugly or beautiful LOTS ARE involved in inbreeding.

As for bringing science back ten years i disagrre,,,,,,,,you don't want scientists just diving in to the human genitics. They experiment on different animals using different technics to see what is possible and what is not. Beign able to do what they did it brings them closer to being able to take something out of another animal that is immune to certain disseases and put it in another that isnt immune.........You have to work your way up. Nobody starts school in grade 12.

stevo your right but my point here is that they are making a comersial gain form this its purely an exploitation of the science and it is bringing allgenetics into disrepute. its a shallow use of the techneique for monitary gain at the expence of the reputaion of genetic reserch. as you can see from many of the post here what has been done is unpopular the press are holding it up as frankensein pets just as mr anderson has. so it is in a way putting the work of reputable scientists in to question over something unrelated effectively. like if i was keeping fish in a 6 foot tank and was being lumped in with someone who had a fairground goldfish in a tub. arent we both being cruel to the fish?? well its a little more complex than that but the main point that occoured to me was that the scientists who work on cures for things are not the same people who are selling mutant danios that glow in the dark. the word genetics should not be linked with the worst case scenario like in the cases of designer babies or glowing fish. its a shame that in all cases the worst things seem to grab peoples imagination. how dissapointing
