All right I walked by my fish tank, and found some weird stuff floating around. Thought it was left over fish food. I know this could cause bad ammonia.

So I did a 50 percent water change. And added a teaspoon of Stress Coat. Did I do right? I`m a little nervous, cause I want fish by Saturday

Well it looked like brown left over fish food, took out 50% of the water, and added a teaspoon of Stress Coat

Have you been treating the ich for long enough?

If there's still ich in your tank, the new fish are going to be more suseptable to it because they will be stresed.

You should never add fish when there's disease present in the tank.

His spots have been gone for 4 days. The tank has been cycled,I think it was left over alage discs.

Hi Drac39 :)

It sounds like you were talking about your tank in another thread. If so, please give us a link (or tell us where it is and what it's called) so we can read it and better understand your problem. That will help us to help you.

Thanks :D

Geez

I am sorry, but how many times have I said that ich needs to be treated for 14 days if the tempature is uped or 21 if not? I am sure there are exceptions but tis is what most people do to make sure they get rid of it.

Ich is only affected by meds when it is free swimming. Hence it is even more important to continue treatment after the spots have gone.

You have PMd me loads of times and I have spent a long time writing out replies and trying to help.

Seems like you are not even reading them though.

due to the lifecycle of ich after it leaves the fish (spots gone) it will be present in your tank for quite a while (even always but dont let that bit worry you)

4 days to have no spots is nothing...please wait and keep up whatever treatment your using (if any) and raise your temp to 82. (depending on what fish are in there) before you add any more fish.

what is in the tank now?

Nvm,I`ll treat it more, sorry. I`ve had the heater in,and have been treating regularly.

You guys sure ich last that long??? Grant it I've only got larger agressives....Escondido, Motoguense, Managuesne, Jacks, Pikes, etc. but when I have a bout of ich I raise temp. to about 85-86, two days gone I take the temp back down to 79 or so. Last time I had ich was 4 months ago so I didn't have trouble with it coming back.

P.S. Everything I've been told or read about ich also pretty much says that higher temp speeds the life cycle and will kill it once it drops off the fish. I've been running the 6 aquariums I've got, the same with a friend who also does cichlids, for years and we've only ever done temperature raise.
