put an airstone in the container holding the eggs to give better water movement. i put mine in a large yoghurt pot filled with tank water and an airstone added and it works very well
Congrats on you peppers spawning fab pic of t-position
I agree with matt, pop an airstone in the trap, out of choice i would use a tub with an airstone has opposed to the trap mainly because if the eggs hatch, the fry are so tiny, they may well get through the slits.
I have 99.9% hatch rate by putting the eggs in a fine gauge catching net with the airstone underneath, then once they hatch they're safe within the net
Just remember to take out any eggs that go white or furry has they will affect the good ones,i found these are normally noticeable after the first 24 hrs
yeah. i shall check them for that.
i have put them into thefry tank, they are still in the hatchery, so if they hatch into the fry tank it wont matter as they can't be eaten by the platy fry. there is a venturi aeration filter in there, so lots of o2 flying around. thanks for the heads up. x
I sieved the sand with a tea strainer, and found 30 eggs, from what i can see a few of them have white dots developing...is that a good sign?
I assumed the fry would be brown, or could there be a few albino perhaps? ideas anyone?
well today there is indeed development. I can see the embryo developments, a little curl of black with a distinct head ens and tail end....absolutely beautiful. still have white ones too...but plenty ( about 25) with little blackish bodies....so sweet. I wander when they'll hatch, the tank is around 26/27 degrees, so will this mean a faster development time?
Temperature can play a part in how fast they hatch, you temp is very high for corys,i would lower it slowly ideally around 22-25 degrees. My fry tanks are sent at 22 degrees and rises when it hot outside to 23.5,and my main tank is normally around 24.5- 25 degrees.which is heading towards the top end for most corys.
Cory eggs can vary but usually they hatch around 4-5 days after laying
