foam backgrounds

been to the local petshop today looking at backgrounds found some made out of black foam a bit like the type used in filters
about £65 for my tank
any ideas what the foam is and whre to get it

It might be a type of styrofoam, are you sure it's aquarium friendly as they make loads they are for lizards and such, that will leach contaminants into the water.

I had one and I had nothing but trouble with algae in that tank.
I sold it on ebay advertised with free algae
