I saw a "Flying Arrow Shark" at a Petco the other day. It looks Asian but I can't find any info on it. Does anyone have anything on it?

Thanks in advance.

Is that the fish?"

No, but close. It has a longer tail and the dorsal fin is long, and similar to a comets. I have a video of him but but I can't post it. I'll try to grab a picture tonight.

No, unless it has a body change from a juvanile. It's body has more of a flat bottom with a mouth that reminds me of a Labeo with 4 barbels. I'll get a pic tonight.

Here's a pic I found online. Hope this works....

I mean the silver fish. It looks like a Bala Shark and a Redtail were spliced together. It's similar to the pictures in previous posts but not quite the same.

flying arrow shark = petco making up name, or not being able to spell
leads me to think apollo shark Luciosoma Sp.
I'm guessing either L.pellegrinii or L.spilopleura as they are the most common in the trade

I can't see the picture either, how did you post it?

It looks like a Bala Shark and a Redtail were spliced together.
That description puts me in mind of Barbus guirali, a West African species that delops the red tail with age. When young, it looks a lot like Barbus callipterus.

There is a here on Johnny Jensens site.

I managed to view the pic directly after it was uploaded but it hasn't worked since.

it looks very much like the Barbus trispilomimus shown in the link above
