Fluval Vicenza - Plant Journal

This was followed by my first planting of the tank, the rest of the crypts, cabomba and some other plants we dont need to talk about!

thought i recognised one of plants, some right dodgy lfs about hey!

your tank looks stunning, so different from your first creation and a million times better. oh the joy of having a big tank to play with. The wood in the middle makes the tank, really unusual. i'd be happy with it as is and not let it get to over grown.

You've got to love some of the LFS' for sure!

Cheers for the comment Jonny, the tank is growing up at the moment, had to rip out a load of cabomba at the weekend as it was getting a little out of hand. Will wait a few weeks and will get another picture posted so can see the difference, its surprising how quickly plants grow!

Afternoon all,

It has been a while since I last posted an update regarding my tank, things have been a little hectic to say the least.

Had a few fun and games since my last update, so here's what's changed:

Swapped CO2 reactor for Glass CO2 diffuser
Added Koralia Nano 1600lph
Removed Cabomba and other stems as was growing faster than I had the time to maintain
Removed HC as just refused to grow
Added 1st Riccia mat as a trial, if successful, more will follow

Had a few problems with BBA since I was last on, and put this down to poor circulation and fluctuating CO2 (fiddling to get the ppm right). Added the Koralia and switched to the diffuser and after a bit of trial and error, all algae is no more and everything seems nice and stable.

I dont plan on doing much extra for the time being with the exception of letting the tank grow, the back left has a red ruben starting to grow nicely and I am sure it wont be too long till it is dominating the corner. The riccia at the front is my main project, and providing this grows well, which it currently is, the plan is to 'carpet' the foreground.

So here's the update, any comments, as always, are more than welcome.

Some unusual hardscape choices, I like it. Is there room for more plants? Perhaps in the back?

there is room at the back, in particular in the back left - things are being slow there at the moment - it's planted, just taking it's time for some reason. There is a decent flow going back there, so not sure why? If things dont take off soon, I may revert back to some stem plants.

Think it is still in it's infancy, I want to leave it a while to grow out a little. I want a 'natural look', well, as far as a scape can be natural!

Happy with the fact that all nutrients/co2/flow seem to be in balance and the plants seem to be all healthy...
