Fluval Duo 600

thanks noodles i was just worried that the fluval 2+ might be maxed out in the tank (its recommended for tanks up to 90lts and the 600 duo is 84lts) its going to be a community tank so the fish i keeping wont be producing large amounts of waste unlike a chilid tank Do you think the 2+would be ok

The fluval 2+ would be fine, If it was me though, I would get the 3+. Your fish wont die from over filtering, and in the future once your tanks mature you may decide you want some more fish anyway.
A bigger filter means more space for error too.

For an extra 8 quid i was going to get the 3+ but now im worried the output may be a bit too strong for the fish as noodles said now he has put doubt in my mind lol!!!!!!!! Any ideas on breaking up the flow ?

You could use a spray bar perhaps, you can get fluval ones that fit straight on for a few quid. but please dont get too worried! it might just affect the fish you want, for example a gourami might not be keen on it, but danio's will love it! the extra size of the 3+ will do a lot of good for the tank and probably out weighs the extra flow. Oh and make sure the 3+ will fit the depth of your tank, if its 12 inches high you might have trouble. my tank is 15 inches high and I only have a spare inch from the sand upto the bottom of the filter.

just for reference the 2+ outputs 105 gallons per hour, the 3+ outputs 185 gallons per hour. Not that its probably much help! Although I expect by turning down the 3+ output to minimum it reduces the rate to something similar to the 105 from the 2+?

Hope all this mindless info helps you out!! ;)

bugger i was hoping to get a trio of dwarf gouramis lol thanks for the help noodles much appreciated
