Fluval 305 Cleaning

Make sure the cloths are lint free otherwise you will get a massive amount of fluff stuck inside the hose and when you go to turn the filter on there will no doubt be a lot of fluff going into your tank.

The length of time it takes to clean the ribbed hosing though is too much for regular maintenance compared to just catching the poop.

Thanks Joshua. Most probably until I see a flow issue or a problem with my filter, i would not go near cleaning those hoses but still good to get the information and advice needed when i do need it

From when I've used those style filters the place which is most likely to cause flow issues is the plastic slot that sits ontop of the ceramic media just below the impeller, if mulm makes its way through there it can sometimes start to clog up that impeller in take and the flow drops off sharply.

Right guys, thanks a bunch for all the advise on the fluval 305 cleaning. Everything went well last saturday. I had do a little bit of priming to get all the air bubbles out before plugging it in, but yeah on the whole it went well. Without jinxing it, its been a week since and no sign of any leaks or strange sound from the filter.
