Fluval 2 Sponge Filter

How often should you clean or change the sponge inside filters? I know its a daft question but have only ever had the undergravel filter before so not really sure on how often change or clean it!

Slack I know! The one I've got came with the tank that I have so have no instructions! And it was the same with my previous one that someone gave me for my old tank (until it broke down)! My dad says to rinse it out every couple of weeks but not sure if this is correct! thanks for your help

my brothers fluval 2 has a clogging indicator on the top, its just a little yelow bit of plastic that goes down when the sponges need cleaning.

i clean my fluval 1 once every 1-2 weeks.That is how oftyen fluval reccomends.

I rinse my Fluval 3 around once a month, its an extra in a turtle tank. I have had it for atleast 6 months and have never had to change the sponges yet

When the flow rate falls off.... this will vary depending on "load" ie how many fish, plants etc.... it could be days, could be months before it needs a rinse

IN OLD TANK WATER.... NEVER tap water !
