i've started to use flourish excel in an attempt to combat BBA after reading of several success stories when OD'ing it. I'm dosing 3x normal dose on a daily basis - 4th day today and no signs of any change yet.

One thing I've noticed is that since I started to use it the surface of the water has become covered with medium and large air bubbles (up to 2cm across). The surface also seems to have developed a sort of clear, slimy to the touch film. The fish don't seem phased by anything and are acting perfectly normal. All water parameters are normal (ph 6.6, No2 nil, No3 <25ppm, DH <6deg and KH 3deg). Has anyone experienced this when using excel and is it something I need to be concerned about?

I wouldn't be concerned. The carbon in the Excell is probably causing your plants to pearl a bit, which is the explanation for the bubbles. The film, I don't know but, I wouldn't worry about it if the fish don't mind. Keep overdosing. I just got done. I don't remember how long it took but, after about a week, I looked in the tank, and all of the BBA was red. After the 10 day mark, it was still red and I stopped OD'ing it. After about the 2 week mark, even though I had stopped OD'ing it a few days earlier, it all turned white and was then scraped off.
