I am flipping a plastic pretzel container into my female bettas home. Any ideas on what I should put in there

I am taking a empty 5 gallon pretzel container and making it into a tank for my female betta fish. I want ideas for what I should put in it to make it a good entertaining home for her.

If you saw that on Tropical chit chat than ya I posted it on the wrong on on there

:hyper: you see never heard of plastic pretzel containers in uk. You have such cool big containers over your way. I was in the chip shop the other day looking at the glass jars containing pickled eggs and pickled onions thinking OMG they are big I wonder where they get them from....the lady was saying "salt and vinegar?" I was miles away. :shout:

Hmm.. would a heater work well in a plastic container? If you're planning on using a heater that is.
If so I'd be very careful. Would hate for it to melt and the poor fish to get hurt!

I have no idea what you could put into it though.. Some place for her to hide would be good. Like a little cave like thing.... and maybe a couple of silk plants.

I did that too!

a lilttle cave, silk plants and even at least one live plant!

that would make betta feel at home!

hey what about those big vases you can get from habitat and places like that, you know the ones that have a wide and i mean wide base, you can get them so cheap in some shops

As long as the heater isn't in direct contact with the plastic I don't see it being a problem. The water isn't going to reach any temperature that will harm the plastic without boiling the fish.

Since most heaters are on suction cups and elevated from the surface they stick to it should be fine.

Very true!

All of my bettas adore live plants, if you can get a small lamp to keep the container lit well enough for a few small low light plants I'm sure your betta would love it. Java moss is great for bettas if you can find it, since you've got five gallons you could probably also get away with some java fern and possibly some anacharis. They'll also help with water quality if you aren't planning on filtering the container, I'd keep an eye out for some.

i would put some brightly colored silk plants and maybe a lttle castle or a little log.
