Can anyone tell me whats wrong with my betta's eyes? I've noticed this for the past couple weeks and am starting to get worried.

Here are some pics...

Hopefully someone can shed some light..
Thanks.

What are his water conditions like? Filtered tank, regular water changes? It *looks* like pop-eye. Hopefully one of the experts will be along shortly.

To me is looks like pop eye too.

One of my girls had pop-eye. I treated her with myxazin (I had to get mine over e-bay). I followed the dosing instructions; after a week I cleaned her out and left her for about 3 days in normal water and then did a second dose - she was fine after the second dose of medicine.

It seemed to take a long time to do anything but she's absolutely fine now.

Oh Im glad this subject came up...I have the same with one of mine. I've done umteen water changes and medication it seems to be taking forever to go.

His water conditions are as follows:
- 5 gallon tank to himself
- once a week 50% or twice a week 25% water changes
- water is aged for at least 2-3 days
- used to have a filter in their but he was always too stressed out due to the water movement so I had to remove it as I read that bettas thrive in stagnant water.
- ph range is 7.0 - 7.6.. It goes up by itself
- ammonia is always in check and water changes are made when there is a rise in ammonia
- temp is never under 78 and never over 82

I really am confused as to what it could be.
If it is pop eye, can it occur on both eyes?

It certainly can.

Normally caused by bad water parameters or fighting/injury.

You can get a filter in your tank, just direct the flow towards the tank wall so it takes most of the flow or block part of the filter up with a sponge or something to reduce the flow.

Where are you? and we can try and locate filters you might be able to get?

I'm in Toronto, Ontario and we have a great Big Al's aquarium superstore nearby and a petsmart round the corner...

Not discounting pop eye, really don't want to misdiagnose him So I've added a few more pics just to illustrate another symptom I've just recently discovered.

If you look carefully just beside his lip, you might notice a little whitish area.

Any ideas???

At first I purchased a whisper 5-10 gallon filter by Tetra.. Found that the flow was so powerful that he was literally hiding behind and inside ornaments to prevent being swept away.

Then bought a tetra whisper air driven filter for the 3 gallon tanks. Thought that maybe this would filter appropriately and have a lower flow... He was stressed and the filter was very noisy.

Wish I could just give him spinach to solve this problem...
What's good for pop eye?

+ do you have a pic of the box or model number...
Spraybar sounds awesome.

I live in Canada.

Please note that this is NOT the box for the filter, I couldn't find the right box but the box I got was the same style/pattern BUT the picture was a picture of the filter above.

At the moment I have a Fluval U1 but I had to buy a separate spray bar for that, but I think the U1 might be a bit large for your tank.

Kool.
Will def. Look into myxazin.

May have to find a local alternative for this med but will get on it ASAP.

I will however, invest in a filter with the option for a spray bar as it is a nice effect too.

Thanks dipsydoodlenoodle. I appreciate your help.

No problems.

I had to order the medicine on e-bay as the shops around mine stock nothing similar.
