So I finally got a couple of small pieces of fissiden but I am now in a quandry as to what I should attach it to and how. I dont have a hot glue gun and I am not sure Locktite is really fish and plant safe, and I doubt I have the patience to even attempt sewing such small plants to some fly screen.

So ideas please on how to best attach these small clumps to something in my tank, even my old stand by of zip ties are too big for this job.

Fine Fishing line allways works for me :good:

super glue gel, (cynocrylyte) is what ive attached all mine with and its growing great :) can even use it underwater with no ill effects

Use fishing line on Fissidens mate, its a very delicate moss, if you use glue you may find bit all over your tank.

Thanks for the ideas, I dont know how I will be able to tie it with even fishing line because the peices are only about 1.5cm- 2cm across. I might have to just leave it in some fishy water for a while and let it grow to a bigger clump and thus easier to handle/ manage.

I also got some subwassertang, again only a small ball, is it best left free floating or should I try attaching it to something? THe lost time I had some my Corys kept bulldozing it and the snails thought it was a particuarly nice snack.

What kind of Fissidens where did you get it from?

Fissidens fontanus is the kind that is aquatic. There are other types one that is sold by aquamagic on e bay. What they sell is not aquatic it is Fissidens splachnobryoides this is not an aquatics moss and will die off if submerged fully.

I use sewing thread for moss on branches. I use mesh to attach it to rocks.

I have some Fissidens fontanus it is my favorite moss and I have lots of moss. It is second to my flame moss.

I dont know which fissiden it is it could be an Australian native type, a person in Mackay sent me a bag of extra weed when I got some willow and flame moss from them. I know we have US Fissiden is Australia but its not very common and really expensive to buy growing on small squares of stainless steel mesh. Quite a few people are starting to collect and grow various native fissiden and mosses in their tanks because our quarentine laws are so strict.

I'll try to get some photos of it and some of the other gems the person sent me so maybe people can help me identify them.

Just took some pics of the fissiden(?) and one of the other uncertian plants.
