FISHLESS CYCLING

Hello Everyone,
We are going to do a 75 gal planted tank,with the "no fish cycle" and we are considering doing the cycling with "plants only"(no ammonia).I read an excellent
step by step article for doing it this way. If anyone has cycled this way, we would
appreciate any pointers you have to offer.

To do a cycle a tank you HAVE to have a source of ammonia for the bacteria to breed and grow on. Have a look at these 2 links Fishless Cycling 1, Fishless Cycling 2. Fishless cycling is definately the way to go, its fast, fairly easy and much kinder to the fish. If you don't want to use ammonia you can use fish food which will break down into ammonia (more slowly).
