What about one of those white, shell shaped vacation feeders that disolves over time? If you got a big one, it would be kind of a cheaper way than the automatic feeder wouldn't it? Just a suggestion.

Absolutely not; those 'vacation' feeders contain plaster. Tetra make one that has the food contained in (edible) gel; much better and less messy.
