Fishless Cycle Log

0ppm nitrites at the 12 hour point today. I'll probably add some more ammonia tomorrow at dosing time, to get closer to the 5ppm.

Dosed 5ppm, now ammonia and nitrites are both at 0ppm in 24 hours. Just need to wait for the nitrite to get down to 0ppm at the 12 hour point. I wonder how long that will take...

It's getting there... Maybe I'll start the qualifying week soon. :D

Just my luck, due to a power cut last night, I seem to have a bit of a set back :( Fingers crossed that things aren't too bad.

I think it was about 7 hours - things look like they are back to normal though. Ammonia never rose to detectable levels and apart from the blip on day 39, nitrites are 0 every 24 hours. Still 2ppm every 12 hours though.

I've just started noticing lots of flaky tiny white particles in the tank though, any ideas what this might be?

A short power cut should hardly affect your cycle at all Frida. As long as you are working closely with WD I hesitate to interfere. You are already in excellent hands there.

Yes, 7 hours should hardly affect anything, no problem. I have no idea what the white things might be - you may have to do a bit of your own detective work there... WD

The white "flakes" have started to look more like buds, and they are moving around. I also found a larger one that looks very much like a cyclops (copepods). Should I just leave them or will I need to take some action? I'm guessing once I get fish, they'll be eaten?
