Fish you'd like to see less of...

I like to see less, Red tail cats, Irredesent sharks, pictus cats. Clown loach's, bread and butter lifebearers.

I known on of my LFS to have 20 tanks of clown loach's, after seeing some beautiful Red tail cats at an Aqurium, all ful grown and happy. I hate to see anything that gets way to big to be kept.

I love to see more unusaule lifebearers.

I'd also like more info about the fish forsale on the tanks, like adult size.

You do get alot of livebearers but i rarely see any of the new strains of colors in guppys or rare colors in platys, im just tired of seeing so many greys and reds...
I'd like to see less VT bettas and much, much more of the more unusual variations and colors

If I remember correctly, Maidenhead aquatics in Chichester have exactly that on each tank - which I think is absolutely great. It gives a brief description about each fish etc.

 I'll probably get a lot of flack for this, but I would like to see fewer bettas sold. Perhaps then, fewer would get stuck in those awful little vases with a plant stuck in them. Just had a conversation yesterday with a co-worker about her betta that has lived in a vase for 4 years, and she says he is fine, cause that's the way he was when she got him. ARGGGH. Yes, I would like to put her in a closet for 4 years and see if she's just fine.

I'd like to see less Black Widows (Black Tetras) and more colourful tropical fish in my LFS. I went in on Saturday to do another water test and whilst I was waiting I was looking at the fishes they have. Most were boring silver/black. I want some colours in my tank seeing as 4 silver-tips died!! :/

I know its not a fish, but personally, i'd like to see less small children in the lfs. Not becuase I don't approve of small children & fish, I just don't like kids...!!! Particularly loud, rude, running-around, tapping-on-the-glass kids.

I totally understand what you are saying, i also hate it when you overhear a kid naging their parents to get a fish just because they want it and you have this deep feeling inside you that that fish is just gonna go down the toilet once the kid gets bored of it or is just going to mistreat it...
I do agree there should probably be less bettas in general though, its like every lfs has them...

Yea, kids bother me too. At the pet stores around here, children under 13 are not allowed in the store unless they have an adult with them. I think that's a wonderful rule.

I would like to see less VT bettas too. Those are the only bettas I have ever seen before because that's all this area gets. I have yet to see my first CT, DT, half moon, etc, in real life :(

Ummm... Not likely. I very much doubt something with a lifespan of about 2 years will live to four years due to mistreatement. Exagguration, methinks. And as for the kids, I agree. There was this little idiot at the lfs I went to the other day hammering on the glass of one of the reptile vivs. He was doing it for about 5 mins... I just wanted to go over and hit him :grr: . Pets at home has fish sizes on the labels, but that hardly makes a blind bit of difference. Afterall, whats the point when everyone is convinced fish grow to the size of the tank?

:grr: I didn't believe it either. That's just what she told me. Since she's a co-worker, I didn't want to come out and call her a bold faced liar. Probably should have before she spreads that garbage to someone who will believe it.

your right, Maidenhead are great at putting good info on there tanks. :D

I think common plecs, they get to big for most people to keep, and mine stock to many, what happens if they don't sell them and they grow to big for their little shop tank?

I think they just get thrown away or sent back to the breeders...

I never wanted to keep goldfish as they didn't appeal to me, but i ended up with my sisters fancy goldfish, as he was ill and i had to buy him a 40gal tank, when he was better got him a mate, and i wouldn't do with out them now they are so placid and entertaining and have lovely personalaties.
