Fish You Will Never Buy Again.

Goldfish, I honestly think they're some of the most boring fish around ... the ones I've owned never had any personality what so ever, plus I really can't say I like the look of them either. Tank size is another thing on them, I'm more than happy to give my 1 dwarf puffer a 15G, but he's absolutely full of character, a 20G for an uber messy goldfish, no ta

Guppies, mollies & platies. I'd rather not get fish that you'll never ever get rid of again, unless you sell them or your heater breaks. They just keep on breeding, and never stop. Plus mollies are just too 'demanding' (for lack of a better word) in tank size, what tank mates you can keep with them and exactly how to keep them.

Chinese Algae Eater. Although an absolutely gorgeous fish that I actually love to pieces, I'm not willing to give 1 CAE a 20+ tank for his own. I however wouldn't mind keeping a big tank (50G+) one day and trying to get a breeding colony ... they are truly amazing fish in personality and looks, just a bit anti-social

^Have to agree with the goldfish. They've never appealed to me. It isn't from prior experience, but just looking at pics of goldfish in their many forms is too much. I really find them unattractive. Meh. But then so many feel that way about fish I do love so each to their own.
Hugs,
P.

I think I'm going to have to say gouramis. I'm just tired of their constant squables. :grr:

Of what I have owned before:
Platies... just something about them
Female Guppies, I've only ever had one beautiful female guppy
Common Plecos.. to big and messy
Goldfish (but only because of the tank size they require and because they always used to eat all the live plants! and no weird bubbly eye ones ever)
not a fish but...African Dwarf Frogs-I can't get them to stay alive past a months time

What I haven't owned and don't plan to:
Dyed fish
Chinese Algae Eater
Piranhas
Mollies

I'm going to start a threat about the top three fish people would like to own, I'm curious.

I am going to add False Flying Foxes(false SAE) I was sold two(thought I was getting real SAE) and after a few weeks one became very aggressive towards the other. I was able to give the agressive one away and the other seem to calm down. I started a growout for my Swordtail fry and it worked out fine for several months. Then the other started to get agressive with the fry/juvies I moved it back to the 112 liter and it was still showing a lot of hostility to the adult Swords. I was very sad to come to the decision of having to flush it, but I love my Swordies and could not let it harrass them when I have three females ready to birth. Nasty fish and quite useless at algea control. :/

I will never buy Angel Fish again, I put them in my community tank with neons and they slowly killed them, and also they were the only fish that ate my livebearers fry! No other fish is bothered about them in that particular tank, we can put new born fry straight into the tank and the adult fish aren't bothered about them. :)

gouramis - lovely but im just not lucky with them, they keep dying on me so ive given up

Zebra Danios... (probably most danios) just seem so lifeless.. and I prefer a more calm tank.

You flushed a fish because you didn't like it?!

aaaand that ladies and gents is why we research our fish :p ;) sorry you had to learn about angels the hard way, fishkeeper! bet nobody at the shop thought to tell you about how angels are predators that naturally eat neons and other slim fish.

I wouldn't buy Gouramis again. I've totally given up on them.

Flowerhorn. I had bought a used tank setup and he came with it. Gorgeous fish, but way too agressive. A real bully.

Crayfish and common pleco. Again these came with the tank, so I'm keeping them, but I would never buy them. As it is, I may have to rehome the crayfish soon.
