I had a really pretty swordtail, and she had just given birth to lovely fry. I woke up this morning, and I couldn't find her. I was in a rush, so I asked my dad if he could look for her. Came back from school and my parents found the little girl dried up and dead behind the tank :( Little girl jumped out.

Awwww you must have been gutted!! Ive never heard of swordfish jumping out of tanks before!

that's so sad :( do you have a hood on your tank? i have a swortail too and i worry about him jumping out even though there's only a small open hole in the lid

At least you have her fry to carry on her wonderful lines. :) That's a good thing. Otherwise I'm really very sorry. Seems like this has been happening a lot lately.. makes me nervous. :sly:

Guess MOTHERHOOD got to her. Happens to the best of us!! LOL
Sorry about your fish though. I had that happen with one of mine. Like I said, she probably said to herself...............screw this!!! Too much work and bolted!!

:-( Sorry about ur swordtail!!

My swordtail thinks of herself as a dolphin!! She disappeared once even if it's for a tank with hood (without any gaps) I searched day and night only to find her trapped inside the heater compartment of the internal filter!! But how did she get in through a hole that's not bigger than an inch wide in diameter, I don't know?!

Sorry to hear about your swordtail. My silvershark jumped out of my tank again last night. Lucky for him I,ve been there both times. Mind you, thats the only time he can jump out when I,m doing maintainence. I would have thought he figured out already the floor is a hard dry place!
