I actually think it's best when fish stores dont sell large fish except by request for a special order. It shows they care about the wellbeing of the fish by only selling to people who will provide adequate care

That's what my LFS actually does, sort of. I rarely see them carry silver arowana unless someone requested it. However, they do bring in fish that could potentially grow to a large size such as Altum angels and clown loaches, though they sell them at a reasonable size.

My LFS only gets large fish when someone orders them. They usually has 2-3 just for entertainment (entertainment = more business). But the others, they sell in a week. They also sell baby large predator fish.

Besides, my LFS takes excellent care of their fish.

My LFS currently have 2 flower horns, 3 Platinum Arowanas, 2 piranhas, 1 red tail catfish and some others I don't remember. I have a great LFS.
However mine does specialize in dwarfs and south American fish so it's perfect for me ;)

Mine doesn't have any large fish for sale. I saw a Frontosa ONCE. Other than that they have some altums in a display tank.

That is a nice picture, I was going to take pictures of all the almost empty tanks at my LFS but it was too depressing.

Those tanks are beautiful! My LFS has a few small display tanks, (like, 5 gallon small), and one big one. They don't look half as good as any of those though.
