hi all i finnally got my 120gal tank up and running using a mature filter. i plan to stock this tank with large fish that aren't overly aggresive towards others of their own size.
anyway was hoping for some suggestions on which species to choose open to anything really

the tank is 4 foot by 2 foot not sure how high but at least 1.5 foot

thanks :good:

Silver dollars and bala sharks would be nice. Are you looking for a community tank, or more along the lines of cichlids?

not sure really i like severums but other than that not sure. dont really want a schooling fish more a couple of big loners

I have three Leopard bush fish. They are nice fish, not active, but don't hide all the time either. I feed mine frozen foods, feeders and crickets.
Severums would be nice. There are a lot of big loner cichlids out there but they are aggressive though. Oh Walking catfish are nice too.

oh will look into the bush fish then

i once bought a walking catfish at about 10 inches long and put it in with my 12 inch oscar over night oscar was killed

i know most cichlids are too aggresive thats why i came to you guys cuz i ran out of ideas

Would you go back to Oscars then, they are pretty calm.

Gaint gouramis are docile and are loners.

Knifefish aswell. They do eat other fish, but aren't extremely aggressive or anything.

How about Mbuna puffers.

tank is nowhere near big enough for a mbu

To the OP, what type of fish are you after? shoaling, centrepiece, species tank etc...

Is there any particular species you want to add? This would help us to suggest suitable tankmates

yes i definatly want a large peacful cichlid like a severum/uaru or oscar

ok, say you go with one large cichlid, (note not all of these will work with an Oscar bu should be fine with a Sev or Uaru)

your options could be other smaller Cichlids such as Convict, Firemouth, Sajica, Rainbow, Honduran Redpoint, Blue Acara,

options for Dithers could be Silver Dollars, Giant Danios, Larger Rainbow fish,

Options for bottom feeders, Plecos, Bichirs, Reed fish, Eels, Corydoras, Pictus, hoplos, botias

Other Suitable Species could include, Angels, Trichogaster gourami species, Golden Panchax, etc
