Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows where the best places in London, UK, are for buiyng fish? Am looking for somewhere with lots of variety of fish, as well as knowleable, friendly staff. Any suggestions??

What for oddballs in particular ?
This thread might help you but you'd have to read quite a bit !

Wholesale Tropicals in Bethnal Green is top quality. Loads of rare fish - they recently had some Uaru fernandezyepezi and oddballs. Staff are very knowledgeable.

Wildwoods (out in Enfield so it depends where about you live in London) has the best selection of oddballs/rare fish/variety I've come accross.

Or if you're in central London then you could check out The Aquatic Design Centre. I've only been there once but they had some nice fish (good rift lake selection) and some ultra cool displays.

In my experience it's always worth travelling that little bit extra to find a really good outlet.

Cheers,
Luke.

I can certainly recommend this one !
Sometimes you just have to put up with the "odd" humour of the knowledgeable staff

Fab selection of plecs, arowannas, rays, puffers and all sorts etc. etc.

I cant really add anything to the shops already listed, pretty much the only place i buy fish from is Wildwoods in Enfield as most places dont stock the kind of fish i like to keep.

If you live more over the south side of London on the Surrey border there is a shop in Chessington in the garden centre near to the World of Adventures theme park that has a good selection of stock including some rare/unusual fish, but you really have to know about the fish yourself because it has the most useless pig ignorant and thick staff ive ever come across in a store.

Tachbrook Tropicals in Victoria has a fantastic selection of oddballs - they are great to their customers but treat their employees like sh*t. I don't go there anymore because I used to work there and left on bad terms... I miss it because the selection was great. I also frequent FinKing in Bermondsey - great prices, not many oddballs though and teh Aquatic Design Centre in London which is good.

Great info!! I live in Central London, near Paddington. May start with the one in Bethnal Green, when have a day off and plenty of time. Does anybody have their address/phone number or do they have a website? Am really looking forward to having an aquarium, but am gonna take my time, to make sure I will get the fish I like, and the correct living conditions for them to stay happy and healthy :)

Started on Tachbrook in Victoria, as it's the closest to me. They have 2 floors, but unfortunately upstairs was closed for renovation, so missed out on seeing a lot of fish. I doubt I'll be going there again, as the man behind the counter was very friendly to all the regulars, but kept us waiting for 10minutes, and had a bad attitude.

Will check either Bethnal Green or Kensington next Saturday (I often work Mon-Sat, so not easy for me to get to these places while they still open)
