Fish Recommended

Ill have a 55 gallon soon, and Ill be going to my LFS tomorrow and wanted to know what are some fish you'd recommend for a 55gallon? I need names before tomorrow!!!

What kind of fish are you thinking about? Large or small, peaceful community, etc.?

Well, be sure to cycle it first, and after that, perhaps add, from my own lists:
20 Neon tetras
8 Platies
4 Bristlenose plecs
6 Kuhli loaches

I'm not very experienced in that area, but perhaps several kribs.

Some get a big tank for big fish, I got my 55 gallon so I can have a lot of little fish. Mine is stocked with mollies and skirt tetras. Planning to add an angelfish soon. Making sure the tank is well established before I put the angelfish in, tho.

Yeah, Id like large fish, but I wouldnt want to get the wrong fish and they out grow the tank.

well cichlids r a great group for a 55 stick with the 5-6 inch size for that size tank. They r very colorful and enjoyable fish

Do you like oddballs? If so you could have some of the smaller spiny eel species, ropefish, bichirs, and a few others (not all in the same tank though). There are an infinite combinations of stockings for a 55g, so it would really help if you could provide us with some fish you like.

Cichlids:
Convicts, Firemouth's, Severums, parrots......

Catfish:
Bulleye catfish... Some others.

I like most sharks.
And some odd balls. I really like knife-fish

Sharks and Knife Fish are too big.

Then again Epalzeorhynchos frenatus or Epalzeorhynchos bicolor are suitable as long as you only get 1 (not one of each species, 1 of either species.)
