Fish Quiz

multiraiatus  pleco                common pleco              zebra pleco           all come from brazil

now I need to ask a question--could be  a half hour or so

to keep things rolling, I'll pass to the first one to ask a question unless I post before that

This strange looking catfish is native to South American river waters.   It prefers sandy or decomposing  leafy substrate as it tends to often  bury itself in the substrate .  Although it can swim by undulating it's body, it stays mainly at the bottom of the waters..   It can propel itself about by taking in water through it's mouth and forcing the water out through it's gills. It is mainly nocturnal and sedentary seldom moving about much during the day

Most of this species grow to about 5 inches but some can grow to about 15 inches.

Those of you who were in chat earlier and saw this fish discussed are disqualified (sorry)

Give the scientific and common name for this unique catfish.

please give the source of your answer

ready, set,  GO

no it's a certain type of catfish.  I'm looking for the subspecies of catfish.

Wrong--It is a catfish but I need to know the subspecies and the common name.

Sometime tomorrow I'l post another hint.

If you were alone on a boat in the southern part of the US, you would not want to run into this catfish or someone playing this catfish.
