Surely standard length and total length are just the proper way to say what TT and I described before.
Thought we were asked what tool will achieve said measurement. Or have I got it wrong again? Won't be the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last! lol

I'll give the win to you daizeUK, but just for anyone interested the best way to measure a fish is with a solid ruler that has a stop at the end where the fishes mouth can be butted up against and then the body laid straight along the ruler. For the health of the fish when measuring like this it is also best to wet the ruler and have your hands wet as well.
Another measuring option is as Mamashack said holding a ruler against the glass and trying to measure the fish as it swims past but this is going to only give you a rough length of the fish.

What is usually regarded as minimum tank size, and height for Angelfish and why?

30 gallon tank, and 24" high? This is due to their depth in their bodies and length.

Correct, also due to their long feelers/fins, in a shallow tank, they cannot swim comfortable, often swimming listed to one side when in tanks too shallow cases stress etc.
