Fish Pictures Sub Forum

i think that there should be a sub forum for fish pictures, especialy in the betta section. over 3/4 the posts on the main page are alwase "got a new betta, pictures" thats not the point of this forum. maby make a sub forum in the betta section for pictures?

heres another reason why its needed, many people like myself dont like looking at everyones new bettas, as i cant get any more and it makes me want more!.
another, if someone posts a question and nobody has an answer right away all the picture topics just bump up to the second page leaving the info question on page 2, nobody looks at pages 2+ so you wont get the answer you need.

Having a subforum won't do much to keep people from putting fish photos in their threads. We have a lot of subforums and even regular forums now that are rarely used because people post in the most popular forums so more people will see it.

i ment make a sub-sub forum in the betta sub forum. like the jurnal section in the planted section, that way people can post their pictures there.

i would have to disagree with you, i think that all those sub forums are needed, otherwise it would be hard to get answers if there are a bunch of posts.

I don't really think that is a valid reason I really really want Discus but can't get any at the moment when people post pic's of their Discus it makes me want them even more also but I cant say that they have to post in a diff sub forum so I don't see them.

It is great that so many people have such enthusiasm for there fish and like proud parents want to show everyone pic's of there new babies.The Forum is for answering questions and even debating relevant issues but it is also a place where people come to share their experiences and their pic's

If we keep creating sub forums etc you may start to make people feel detatched for the forum and start to alienate people that would be a real shame because this Forum has a wonderful community from all around the world.

I always look on page 2 and I think most people on this forum will take the time to look through the pages to answer peoples questions I have also noticed that the people whom seem to have the most experience do take the time to check through the newbie section as well as the emergency section to make sure important questions are answered quicky

Honestly, I just don't think that a sub forum is worth it because people will ignore it the way they ignore all the pinned topics, or the fact that there is already a forum to show off pictures. Personally I don't care about the picture threads, at least not enough to comment on them generally, but they don't bother me. As for things getting bumped off the first page, I always go to whatever page the last non-updated thread I looked at is on and go from there.

Posting in the betta forum was a nice try, Pica, but I don't think they're going to listen to you...

I think pinning that would be a bit awkward, especially since it's most likely going to be locked if it takes an ugly turn. The delivery was just a bit...off.

I've said my piece in that thread, and I will add that sometimes we forget what the board looks like through a newer members eyes. I think that most of the new betta people come here, having only seen fish at their lfs, and they actually enjoy looking at each others fish. IMO, it's fine as it is.

ETA~ I'd like to add that we keep the betta pics out of sight and out of mind partially for CFC's sake =P

I've posted Malawi pics in the Malawi forum, coz i needed specific Malawi advice based on my set-up, i guess we can still do this,

but if the thread is "look at my beautiful fish, isn't she so lovely and beautiful and gorgeous and just do damn nice, look at her, isnt she just the most attractive fish, thats my girl" cant it just be posted in the actual picture forum?

i disagree about having another subforum for betta pics, this has started b/c some members dont like the way in which people post threads, remember that we are all different, some people find it hard to navigate around a forum and some find it easy (it always seems to be the ones who are moaning are the ones who find it easy to nav on forums) give these members a break, if youve got nothing good to say to them dont jump on their thread and moan at them. remember we dont always know what kind of PC or forum knowledge they have.

I say if you don't like it don't open it. You can tell 90% of the time if a post is going to have a photos, especially in the betta section where there are so many types and colours. If 99% or posters are happy why change it for the 1% who do not present a valid argument.
