Fish Not The Same

Why do my fish not look the same as they do in the shops? Is it the lighting that they are using ? Thanks in advance menacet

It might be the lighting, Or the fish in the shop could be stressed and arent showing there full colors, but in your tank they are doing better and not stressed so the fish that you have might have more vibrant colors

I would say if anything they are doing worse in my tank the colours are brighter in the shop, I really think its the lights though.

That light in that tank looks very very bright blue. have your tested your water quality?

Lighting is a big problem. Most LFS use dimly lit tanks to keep them in so alot of beautiful fish often get over looked for others. But yours sounds like it's the other way around.

What kind of lighting do you have in your tank? Do you notice a different hue between yours and the LFS? Also, what colour substrate do you and the LFS have? This can make alot of difference as lighting can reflect in a different way and it can also make your fish feel more/less secure.

Substrate ? I don't know what my light is, it looks like an energy saving light. I have a fish box X it has one white and one blue light.

No soybean I mainly use my white light

Substrate is gravel, sand etc.

Might help to know what fish u actually have.

What fish have you got? the tank looks quite bare so you might want to add more plants and things or maybe more fish depending on what you have. If you only have say 5 neons in that tank i would expect them to be washed out

I have 4 neon 3 guppy 1 dwarf gourami 1 albino frog 2 Dalmatian Molly

Oh and glass fish that I am looking after for a mate

There all shoaling fish pretty much to a degree. they need more of there own kind especially the neons. you might find that your frog enjoys them for dinner though

Why? They said the frog is a community and friendly fellow? Had it 5 days not gone for anything I feed it blood worm every few days and it seems ok

So I should get more neon I think I may be a tiny over stocked already though
