Fish In The Dog!

Hi tetrafan :)

Unless your house is unusually cool, or you have one of the relatively few corys that require warmer than usual water, you won't need a heater for him.

You can probably put him right back into the big tank, but watch the wound for any sign of fungus. If you don't see any white fuzzy stuff forming on it, he will be fine. :D

why treat the fish if he's not showing any kind of illness?
Using medication is always the last thing I try. Keeping the water quality top notch is the best way to cure most infections anyway.

complete B.S the smallest angel needs 10gal at least or they will kill each other
Maybe a small juvie will be ok in a 10 gallon but it will soon outgrow it. Adults need a tank with a minimum height of 18". The are officially considered as semi-aggressive but definitely won't kill each other except in maybe some strange circumstances. I have 4 (all about 3" long) in my tank and they get along fine with each other as well as the other fish.

The fish doesn't have an illness but does have injuries from the dog. I suggested the medication as more of a precaution to prevent infection and to help heal the wound/wounds.

I wouldn't worry too much about it getting an infection. If the tank water is reasonably clean, the would will be constantly flushed out and should heal nicely. This is, or course, if it in itself is not so severe as to kill it.

The fish is more likely to develop a fungus on the wound, and this will be clearly visable if it happens. Then it can be treated. What I would worry about more is the additional stress of keeping it in small temporary quarters. Stress is dangerous for corys because harms their immune systems and lowers their resistance to bacterial infections.

A systemic bacterial infection is much worse than fungus on a wound. That's why I suggested getting it back in its own tank as soon as possible. :D

what I mean't to say was they need 10gal of space to themselves in a larger tank .They should be getting along fine in your tank but they would kill each other for space if there wasn't enough
