Fish-in Cycling Diary.

I'm enjoying doing it without any mature filter media.

Went a day without a change!!!

Went a day without a change!!!

It's okay, I went a day without doing my water changes...it's called life. It isn't so good for the fish just do a big water change and test your water. We won't make it a habit and we will get through our fish in cycle

Water changing daily is better than leaving them having their gill burned off by Ammonia, and oxygen removed from their blood via Nitrite though... Remember that the damage these two chemicals cause is irreversible and will shorten the life of your fish  While you can get away with running the levels of Ammonia and Nitrite higher than we recommend on here (pH being correct to balance Ammonia to Ammonium in the fishes favor of course), but it won't do them any good

I assume you going a day without a water change Josh means that Ammonia and Nitrite read zero :good: If so, great news, looks like it was a reasonably fast cycle assuming they are still zero today

All the best

I bought a new dechlorinator today, or at least I think I have, its King British safe water, but it says nothing about chlorine...

So is the King Britian any good??? I wonder if any one brand of dechlorinator is better than another. They all do the samething right? What brand are you switching from? Are you familiar with the Tetra brand AquaSafe? and if you are, do you know what BioExtract is and what it does?

I'm just switching from King British Safeguard to KB water safe.

Next time I buy it though I think I'm going to get a different brand as King British works out at £4 for 50ml!

I'm going to use that next time I run out, its a little cheaper...
