Fish In A Bag? How Long?

How long can you keep fish in a bag from the pet shop? I might need to for about 5 hours, would that be ok?

Hi,

fish are shipped in plastic bags for days sometimes, 5 hours will be fine as long as the bag has more than 2 thirds air in it and isn't too small for the fish, try and avoid drastic changes in temperature

also - 5 hours drive away to a different area with a different ph. when you get to your destination remember to float the bag in the tank so it gets the same temp and add some tank water every 5 - 10 minutes so the fish can adjust to the ph.

i find while transporting fish. it might sound crazy. but floating the bag with the fish in it. in a container with water helps. but i could be wrong

I always tell the Lfs if I have to go far (normally 7 hours), and then they put extra air in the bag, and often use a double bag to avoid leaking. I have also been told to use polystyrene covered crates to put the bags in.
