Friends of mine in Ireland have a fish that they can't find the identity of. The fish is catfish-like, has a pair of long (about 3"), has a reddish tail, and a blue/grey body. The body is currently 6" long. It is relatively thin. I could not find it online in my searches thus far. Any ideas?

:S

It sounds more like a blue loach to me.....

or perhaps a Red tail black shark.... but it does sound more like a blue loach.

They don't really have long white whiskers Gank.

RTC - red tailed catfish I think.

It definately is not a loach, blue or otherwise. The whiskers are long and white, and the fins in the back have more of a shark look. The body is only a few inches longer than the whiskers, they are that long.

It is also not a red tailed shark, the body is more a blue/grey and it is 3 to 4 times as big. But I can't find a picture of a red tailed catfish, so I couldn't say for sure about that.

That looks similar in shape, only this one is longer and again has blue/grey skin.

Getting closer. The color is more solid. and the tail fin stands up like a shark-type fish. Maybe I can get them to add a picture, although it's hard to get him out of his hiding place.
