Well I live in Bradford, West Yorks how much do filters cost.

Depends on the brand, but a Fluval 2 filter can filter up to 90litres and is around £15-20, a fluval 3 filter can do up to 150litres and is usually around £20-30's- its better to overfilter goldfish tanks because they are very high waste producing fish so you need a strong filter to deal with all the poop and keep the goldfish healthy etc. Most fish/pet shops should stock the fluval filter brand- check out ebay as well if you have time, you may be able to pick up some bargain fish tank equipment there and even tanks .

HI,

Instead of goldfish have you considered white clouds http/www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=41918 they stay small so you could have a group of 8 in the tank for life. They would need a filter but could live at room temp without a heater. Another fish that would go well with them are hillstream loaches. Have a look on ebay for cheap filters but a fluval2+ would be idea for a tank that size.
